LET YOURSELF BE SUPPORTED.

Therapy for High-Achieving Black Women

It’s hard to close your eyes, catch a deep breath, or let your hair down when it feels like there is always something undone. It’s a challenge to manage things the way that you do. At times, you make it look way too easy for those looking in from the outside.

It’s okay to take a break.

You’ve perfected the art of being “on” in public spaces as an individual and professional.
Sometimes, you’re not just the only Black person in your academic setting or workplace, you are the only female. It’s hard to rest when the world constantly sends you messages about having to prove your worth.

It feels like it’s time for a break, but taking a break doesn’t come so easy for you when carrying the weight of other people’s beliefs and actions. You worry that you’ll be labeled “lazy”. What you do can impact other Black women coming up behind you, and you also carry this weight of responsibility.

It’s Okay To Set Boundaries

It’s okay to set boundaries with the world on how they benefit from your Black Girl Magic. “Easier said than done,” I know.

It’s okay to not always be “on” for saving the world, family, and friends.

It’s okay to need rest.

Rest is not a handout, it’s a birthright.

It’s even okay to accept help at times in saving yourself.

I’d be honored to help you take care of yourself as you cultivate a more wholesome life that you can live like it’s golden.
